United States federal holidays
Federal holiday rules and observed dates come from the US Office of Personnel Management, which lists each year from 2021 to 2030. When New Year’s Day falls on a Saturday, OPM lists the Friday before, 31 December of the previous year, as the day off. These marks do not cover state, local, school or employer calendars. Future legislation can change the schedule.
