How to set content margins for planner punching

Pick the binding edge

Choose the binding first, then set the binding edge to left, right, top or none. On double-sided pages, a left or right margin is mirrored on the back so it always sits on the binding side. Check it in the page preview.

Binding edge on the left: the shaded content margin sits at the left of the front and at the right of the back, so on both sides it is the edge that goes into the rings or discs, and the writing starts after it.

Set the margin

The content margin moves the writing area away from the binding edge. It is space, not a hole position, and it cannot promise that a particular punch fits. Trim first, then line the page up with your punch’s own guide.

Leave room for the holes plus a little space before the writing starts. On small pages, a simpler layout or shorter labels works better than squeezing everything in.

Test with scrap paper

Trim a test page to its finished size, punch it with your own punch using its guide, and put it in the planner. Turn it through the rings or discs. If the holes come close to the writing, increase the margin and print again.
